Homely diner Hawaiian saimin local noodles worth experiencing!
Their noodles could have been better on texture. Broth was amazing, though! Wonton dough was thick enough and boiled just right for it not to be soggy. Meat in it was captivating.
Loco moco was yummy! It had that classic diner touch and flavor to the whole bowl!
Macaroni salad was delicious as well.
Their juice drink Green River with sugar cane could have been much better. Didn't care for it all.
Experience the way locals would here! Nom! -

Bruddah Fran is all about da Old Skool Local Kine Grindages, and Dillingham Saimin surely is one of those kinda places, if you're looking for old skool mom & pop joints!
After seeing Bruddah Ric C's, & Kristin C's AWESOME ROTD reviews about Dillingham Saimin, I wen' bookmark this place fo' chance 'em later!
Finally, for pau hana Friday...........I wen' chance 'em with one of my homies as I told him I was Jonesing for some local kine grindz.
If you didn't know this.........Dillingham Saimin was formally known as Boulevard Saimin, and I heard that da ohana that ran this saimin business had somehow split off, therefore the business name change to Dillingham Saimin..........
The other side of the da ohana opened up Tanaka Saimin (that's another review of mines).
Sometimes walking into an old skool restaurant like Dillingham Saimin sure brings back joyful small kid time memories. The restaurant definitely looks like something from the 60's or 70's by the decor of the restaurant.
The menu is pretty simple, they serve local plate lunches, sandwiches, breakfast food, cold noodles, bowls (donburi or local moco bowls), some simple desserts like ice cream & pie, and of course, what I came for..........Saimin!
I came here mainly looking for that old skool saimin, with maybe a sandwich, or chicken stick.
Lucky for me, I ended finding this "Kamaaina Grindz" deal, where I got a small saimin, a sandwich (see Kamaaina Grindz menu), and a drink. Unfortunately for me, they only do beef sticks here, and since I don't do red meat, I ended up skipping out on the beef stick.
My friend ended up getting the Saimin Special which consist of a Large Wun Tun Min with (2) Shrimp Tempura.
What can I say about da grindz?
Da grindz is real simple, nothing fancy at all. You really have to be in the mood to eat this kind of old skool grindz, otherwise you may think it's junk.
As for me, I must say my Small Saimin with Tuna & Cheese Melt really hit da spot for me!
I loved the texture of the saimin noodles.........firm & chewy, just how I like it. The saimin was garnished with some char siu & kamaboko. The sandwich was grilled & buttery good. Upon finishing my meal, I did not feel overstuffed, and walked away totally satisfied!
Finding old skool mom & pop businesses like this is getting harder as the years go by.........but I'm so glad that Dillingham Saimin is still around & thriving. -

Old School restaurant I remember as Boulevard Saimin. Would come here for their Saimin and Hamburger Steak. I usually get the BLT w/fries, won ton mein, or teri burger. Btw, in my opinion their teri burger is one of the best I've had. Very simple, nothing fancy but ono! As far as their pink saimin broth; I've grown up eating here so it's good to me. It's only pink when you do take out but broth turns a regular color once noodles are added. Nothing fancy about their saimin either; just old school way.
The restaurant could use a renovation though or maybe just a good cleaning as it has a musky smell; hence the reason I rather do take out. -

Today's lunch choice for me. I'm only doing A review on the taste of the food because I ordered the door dash. I believe this restaurant was once named boulevard saimin and i always loved eating there. I've always ordered a mushroom temporary, unfortunately my mushroom tempura wasn't how it used to be, now I don't know if its because its new owners or smaller mushrooms being used but it just wasn't the same. The taste was still good though. I got the wun tun combo and subbed udon noodles. Everything in my Udon was good, onolish, oishi . I also got a regular burger and fries. Its been A minute since I've eaten a good home made burger and this burger went hit the spot, little dry but nothing ketchup couldn't cure, lol. The fries were soggy by the time it was delivered but still was OK. I also got a little portion of Teri beef, ohhh that was onolish wished I ordered more. I would definitely eat and order from this restaurant again and recommend for everybody to go eat here themselves. The prices are worth it to me.

Hole in the wall place but food is decent.
Not the cleanest so I would opt to take out versus eat in.
Parking is ok because most spaces in the lot are designated for them.
It is VERY hot in there. Its is all closed up with a wall AC running but it is clearly broken as it is not making it cool in there.
FOOD
I had the BLT and fries - boring but you would be amazed how it could get screwed up! For this one it was really good, bread fresh, tomato and lettuce fresh and it was good thick cut bacon.
Sister had - Fried chicken plate. This fried chicken is so tasty, they make it in small pieces, almost like fried chicken skin. The batter/breading is so flavorful. I would Recommend this chicken!
Ranch dressing on salad is pretty much store bought so not homemade.

All in all ok for quick run in and grab lunch spot!
